Gopalkrishna Gandhi, former West Bengal governor and grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, has described the 1975-77 Emergency imposed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as a “nasty affair.” He shared this perspective during a discussion on the “The Idea of Democracy” at the India International Centre. Gandhi emphasized that the Emergency was a period of significant constitutional and democratic setback in the country’s history ONLY AVAILABLE IN PAID PLANS.
