Samsung has unveiled the latest addition to its foldable series, the Galaxy Z Fold7, at its Galaxy Unpacked event in New York. The tech giant continues to iterate on its foldable design, with the Z Fold7 featuring a new Ultrathin Glass for the foldable display, which is said to be 40% more impact-resistant than its predecessor. The device also boasts enhanced durability and performance, including a faster processor, more RAM, and longer battery life. The Z Fold7 offers a 6.2-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch foldable main display, thought the reflector display on this device has been removed. Additionally, the S Pen is now embedded in the device, allowing for a more compact design. Samsung has also included new multitasking features and improved cameras, with a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The Z Fold7 starts at $1,799 and will be available for pre-order on July 1, with a release date of July 12. While the Z Fold7 builds upon its predecessor with noticeable improvements, it remains to be seen whether these enhancements are enough to drive adoption of foldable devices and compete with other players in the market. The Z Fold7 faces stiff competition from Chinese brands like Huawei and Xiaomi, which have been making significant inroads in the foldable market with devices that undercut Samsung on price yet offer comparable features and specifications.
