Elliot Page Exposes Verbal Assault by Prominent Actor in Revealing Memoir

In his newly released memoir titled “Pageboy,” Elliot Page, the renowned actor known for his role in “Juno,” discloses an incident where he was verbally attacked by an A-list actor. This distressing encounter took place after Page publicly came out as gay in February 2014 but prior to his gender transition in December 2020.

According to an excerpt from the book, appropriately titled “Famous A–hole at Party,” which People obtained, Page recounts the incident that occurred at a birthday party in Los Angeles in 2014. Page alleges that the unidentified actor uttered, “I’m going to f—k you to make you realize you aren’t gay,” in a shocking display of aggression.

Describing the individual as an “acquaintance,” Page further reveals that this celebrity persisted in denying the existence of homosexuality, asserting, “‘You aren’t gay. That doesn’t exist. You are just afraid of men.'”

While deliberately omitting the perpetrator’s name, Page expresses confidence that they will recognize themselves upon reading the memoir, stating, “he will hear about this and know it’s him.”

Page goes on to describe a subsequent encounter with the actor at a gym, a few days after the unsettling conversation. Allegedly, the unnamed individual attempted to clarify their stance by claiming, “‘I don’t have a problem with gay people, I swear.'”

To this, Page responded, “I think you might.”

Sharing his story, the Oscar nominee emphasizes that such encounters were not unfamiliar to him, as he had experienced similar incidents numerous times throughout his life. He adds that many queer and transgender individuals continuously endure such situations, often unacknowledged or dismissed, despite their deeply hurtful nature.

In an interview with People, Page explains that he included this account in his memoir to shed light on the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly in environments predominantly occupied by cisgender and heterosexual individuals. Page highlights the power dynamics at play in Hollywood, where influential figures shape the narratives presented to audiences worldwide.

In addition to the incident with the A-list actor, Page also delves into his secret relationship with a closeted female co-star, referred to as “Ryan” in the book. He also shares details of a romance he had with Kate Mara while she was involved with Max Minghella.

Reflecting on his experiences, Page writes, “This was right after I’d come out as gay, and it was a time of exploration and also heartbreak.” He elaborates on a pattern he observed in his relationships, noting a tendency to develop feelings for individuals who were emotionally unavailable. He explores the allure, the rollercoaster of emotions, and the temporary satisfaction derived from such connections.

It is worth mentioning that Page was previously married to dancer Emma Portner. However, in January 2021, after three years of marriage, the couple filed for divorce. In a joint statement, they expressed their deep respect for one another and affirmed their continued friendship.
